I would also add that I got Mastering the Mix Levels for free with a purchase from Plugin Boutique a few months ago and it's a great plugin for mix checking - I find it very visually appealing and easy to read/use (UI matters a lot to me for plugins). Are these other features essential in order to make great music and mix/master it reasonably well yourself? I doubt it. The verdict that I reached was that for me, between the whole Tonal Balance Bundle, MLoudnessAnalyzer (free), Youlean Loudness Meter (also free), and Voxengo SPAN (again, free), I had everything that I needed for now in order to compare my mix with a reference track, make sure that my mix is spectrally and dynamically balanced, and feel comfortable that all the major important things I could want/need to know about my mix are available to me.ĭo Insight and the BUTE plugin you mention perhaps have a few unique features that may not exist in free plugins listed above or what you already have?
