It is perfect for visualising changes made during mixing and mastering, troubleshooting problematic mixes, monitoring the intelligibility of your dialogue, and ensuring compliance with broadcast loudness standards. Hamming, Blackman), and overlap % have some impacts on other aspects like frequency resolution, but not on the max frequency of the output.IZotope Insight 2 is a comprehensive metering and audio analysis plug-in that is a core component of award-winning post production studios, music studios, and broadcast facilities. 4096 or 8192), and repeated continually to generate the real-time view. The FFT is performed on a finite number of samples, usually a multiple of 2 (e.g. It doesn't impact the max displayed frequency. The spectrum view is still useful, but somewhat disappointing since I generally would expect iZotope tools to be higher performance.īy the way, the FFT size is a different setting that determines the size of the window (# of samples) used to calculate the FFT. It should have displayed up to 48kHz in that case. Even with the project sample rate at 96kHz, it would not show me anything above 20kHz. The spectrum analyzer, however, seems to be pinned at 20 kHz. It was hard to tell at 48kHz, but when I switched the project to 96kHz it was more obvious. Both the 2D and 3D spectrograms do follow the project sample rate. Thanks for checking! I was wrong about the 3D spectrogram.

Are these other features essential in order to make great music and mix/master it reasonably well yourself? I doubt it. The verdict that I reached was that for me, between the whole Tonal Balance Bundle, MLoudnessAnalyzer (free), Youlean Loudness Meter (also free), and Voxengo SPAN (again, free), I had everything that I needed for now in order to compare my mix with a reference track, make sure that my mix is spectrally and dynamically balanced, and feel comfortable that all the major important things I could want/need to know about my mix are available to me.ĭo Insight and the BUTE plugin you mention perhaps have a few unique features that may not exist in free plugins listed above or what you already have?
